Three weeks into an extended tour of duty, Spc. Karen Clifton died on June 21st when the Humvee she was driving was hit with a rocket propelled grenade. She had just turned 22 years old a month earlier.
“She was a real good kid. She died a hero,” said John Maple, Karen’s former step-father who served 6 years in the military. “We need to bring our kids home.”
Karen Clifton is the 81st female fatality among the Coalition Forces serving in Iraq.
