The Mother’s Day Project

War is Personal

Spc. Karen Clifton

Three weeks into an extended tour of duty, Spc. Karen Clifton died on June 21st when the Humvee she was driving was hit with a rocket propelled grenade. She had just turned 22 years old a month earlier.

“She was a real good kid. She died a hero,” said John Maple, Karen’s former step-father who served 6 years in the military. “We need to bring our kids home.”

Karen Clifton is the 81st female fatality among the Coalition Forces serving in Iraq.

MDP Note: Karen’s name will be incorporated into the second bag as part of this project. Please continue to spread the word about the Mother’s Day Project and email me with your complete mailing address if you are able to stitch a name.
